More Money Than You Can “Sheikh” a Stick At! Thursday 10th September 2009
That’s right folks, Stakesy is continuing with his huge guaranteed pots for Round 5, stumping up a full £2,000 for you to win this weekend! And if that wasn’t enough, you also have a chance of grabbing a further £1,000 in our superb “A Grand in Your Hand” promotion!
His generosity doesn’t end there, Stakesy has also compiled a quick review of this weekend’s fixtures, to help you when it comes to selecting your Fantasy Stakes teams. We might as well give you your winnings now!
For the second time this season there is no lunchtime game on the Saturday, which means you have until 2pm to get your teams in. Make sure you keep an eye out on the latest team news and any last minute injuries!
There is a tasty looking 3pm kick off on Saturday at Eastlands, where Man City host Arsenal. Both teams have started strongly this season, with City’s perfect 3 out of 3 and the Gunners unlucky to go down at United in Round 4.
Stakesy fancies Arsenal to edge this one, with a strong attacking force of Van Persie and Eduardo causing all sorts of problems for a defense which hasn’t had time to fully bond. Don’t risk the clean sheet, as the Sky Blues always have a goal in them.
Stoke will be hoping that they can continue their impressive home performances from last season when Chelsea come to visit. Once again, looking at the impressive start from the Blues, you have to favour the Prawn Sandwich Brigade, but Stoke are well known big upsets, so a cheeky score draw is always on the cards.
Liverpool will be looking for consistency after an unsettled start to their campaign. Burnley have managed to serve up a couple of shocks at home already this season. However, away from home they are a different side, so look for Gerrard, Torres and Kuyt to run the show, along with a strong performance at the back for the Reds.
A basement clash sees the only two teams yet to put points on the board go head to head at Fratton Park this weekend. Portsmouth, with a raft of new faces after the close of the transfer deadline, will be hoping for an instant impact on the field when they host Bolton. Wanderers put up a strong performance against Liverpool last time out and this will be a tough game for Pompy. This has the makings of a 0-0, with both teams having found the net just twice each so far.
Expect some scrappy matches when Blackburn take on Wolves, West Ham play Wigan and Sunderland host Hull. All six will be keen to grab 3 points in games which they will have ear marked for a points haul. West Ham should manage to overcome Wigan, however Stakesy is looking at draws for the other two matches.
Moving onto Saturday evening sees another mouth-watering tie with Tottenham playing host to the champions. Spurs have excelled this season, with 4 wins out of 4 and they will cause United problems. United seem to be settling into their season and will be boosted by their victory over the Gunners.
Another tight game here, with United winning it, but expect Spurs to bag a goal or two with the United back line still not at full strength.
There are two games on Sunday, kicking off with the derby match, Birmingham against Aston Villa at midday. City have not started badly, but Aston Villa have the stronger squad and will be the favourites for this clash. However it is a big local derby and in these games, anyone can win it. Expect to see lots of action, crunching tackles and a flurry of yellow cards as Birmingham try to hustle Villa out of the game.
Round 5 wraps up with slow starting Fulham entertaining misfiring Everton at the Cottage. Both sides have won just one game and suffered two defeats so far. A very poor start for two teams who were tipped to challenge for a top six finish during pre-season. Both sides will be desperate for a win to boost them up the table and Stakesy reckons this will be a tight one, with few chances and maybe one goal winning it.
So there you have it, a huge amount of money to be won, some very entertaining fixtures to get your teeth into and a 2pm deadline to get your teams in by. What more would you want?
