Fulham Look to Ex-Chelsea Man Friday 14th August 2009
Roy Hodgson is very hopeful about signing Damien Duff from Championship team Newcastle United to help strengthen his team for the new season.
Fulham performed way above expectations last season, managing to finish 7th in the Premier League. A string of good performances including victories over Arsenal and Manchester United and draws against Chelsea and Liverpool at home helped them to their best finish in the top league in their history.
This took everyone by surprise and pundits have already written off their chances of producing the same performance this time around, however the club are determined to prove the critics wrong.
Damien Duff is a proven player at the top level, having spent time at both Chelsea and Blackburn Rovers.
Newcastle’s difficult position in the second tier of English football will make it difficult for them to hold onto their big name players. This makes Hodgson’s task of bringing Duff to the Cottage easier, as the winger will be keen to return to the Premiership as soon as possible.
The exciting midfielder loves to get forward, weighing in with goals and assists. He played the full 90 minutes in Newcastle’s first Championship game of the season, scoring the equaliser against West Brom.
Fulham will be looking for similar performances if and when he does join them in London and Fantasy Stakes managers may well find him for a bargain price on the player list.
