Everton Set to Replace Lescott Tuesday 4th August 2009
The very public pursuit of Joleon Lescott by Manchester City may well be starting to work as Everton look set to sign a replacement for the commanding centre back.
Phillippe Senderos is very close to signing a deal with the Merseyside club and this could very well open the door for Lescott to move out.
Senderos has found opportunities few and far between at Arsenal and is keen to move to a club where he can gain regular first team football. Last season he was shipped out to AC Milan on loan, as he was surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium.
It is rumoured that Lescott has made it clear to Everton his intentions to leave and he is becoming increasingly frustrated at the club’s tactics not to sell him. The signing of Senderos may well be a deal breaker, with Everton covering themselves if they were to lose their star centre back.
Wherever Lescott ends up this season, Fantasy Stakers should take note of his excellent record in the Premiership, including clean sheets, goals and assists making him a top point scorer.
David Moyes may be looking for loan options to cover Marouane Fellaini, whose fitness looks to be in doubt for the start of the season. He was a key player for Everton last season, scoring 9 goals and creating an influence in every game which he played.
Just make sure you watch out for his explosive temper!
