The Premiership Beckhams Tuesday 21st July 2009
After annoying LA Galaxy fans with his part-time status and flirtations with AC Milan, it appears as though the Premiership beckons for the Beckhams.
Clearly the priority for Beckham these days is retaining his place in the England squad and fixtures against the Kansas City Wizards and Columbus Crew are not going to enhance his cause. The wandering eyes of Dave will surely be looking back towards Blighty.
Leading the chase for Beckham’s right foot, and his left foot come to that, are Spurs who could perhaps see Beckham as a holding midfielder in order to retain Aaron Lennon’s services on the right wing.
Inevitably the purse at Man City is also open, though the possiblity of Beckham playing for the blue half of Manchester seems unlikely. Still, money is talking for Mark Hughes - ask Gareth Barry.
The Anerican MLS season ends in October. David Beckham could be available for selection at Fantasy Stakes before the year is out.
