United To Go Swedish to Form Own “Holy Trinity” Thursday 9th July 2009
It looks like Michael Owen and Co. at Manchester United could be about to welcome in another new face in the shape of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The Swedish forward has been heavily linked with United who are looking for a 4th main striker to bolster their attacking options for the new season.
Man Utd do have some young talent in Frazier Campbell, Federico Macheda and Danny Welbeck, however it looks like Fergie is keen on bringing in another proven strike force to enhance his sides chances for the new campaign.
Fantasy Stakes players should note that Ibrahimovic has a proven record in front of goal, scoring 57 Serie A goals in just 88 appearances at Inter, along with 21 international goals for Sweden.
United’s interest in Zlatan has increased recently as they have failed to lure Karim Benzema, who is on his way to Real Madrid and Samuel Eto’o, who may well end up across Manchester at the Red Devils’ rival City, to Old Trafford.
The Premier League champions have moved positively and quickly in finding and replacing a certain Mr Ronaldo, with the signings of Valencia and Obertan.
These two attacking wingers will be looking to link up with Utd’s front men to recreate the potent force which Cristiano brought to the side. Although there are still question marks over whether these new players can fill the void, in terms of quality, which has been left on the right wing.
We may see a more dynamic attacking force from Untied this season as both Obertan and Rooney can play up front as well as on the wing. This could lead to Owen, Berba or Zlatan being used as an out and out striker with Rooney and Obertan swapping between midfield and supporting striker roles.
Could this be United’s very own answer to Barca’s “Holy Trinity”?
