New Striking Partner for Owen? Monday 6th July 2009
With Manchester United’s recent capture of Michael Owen and imminent departure of Carlos Tevez, will Ferguson be looking for a fourth front man to complete his attacking options?
Owen’s shock move means that he now joins forces with the Red Devil forwards, Rooney and Berbatov. No-one is denying that this is a quality attacking line up, however Fergie may opt for the security of a 4th striker just in case there is an injury crisis!
Some big name strikers have been linked with United so far, including Eto’o (Barca), Aguero (A. Madrid) and Huntelaar (R. Madrid), however their 4th man solution may already be on the training pitch.
Federico Macheda anyone?
The young, Italian superstar exploded onto the scene last season with this glorious goal against Aston Villa. Now that is the way to announce your presence in the Premiership!
Ferguson is under no illusion of the teenager’s talent, saying “He’s got something special about him, the boy.
“He has a good eye for goal, a terrific physique and is not shy about playing under pressure.”
If the gaffer’s comments haven’t already sold him to you, Fantasy Stakes managers should also take note that Macheda could be an absolute bargain this season! He is likely to be priced around the £6.5m mark, making him a great selection for anyone’s team. (That’s over £2m less than the trio mentioned above!)
Make sure you also look out for Owen on the Man Utd team sheet, as the former Liverpool ace could prove to be Fergie’s most cunning transfer to date.
With nearly 200 Premiership goals to his name, you can see why Ferguson has taken the risk and it could pay off for you, as well as Sir Alex!
