Brothers United at Arsenal? Sunday 7th June 2009
Arsenal defender Kolo Toure may be playing alongside his brother at the Emirates next season.
Barcelona defensive midfielder Yaya Toure has been linked with a move to North London in a bid by Arsene Wenger to sure up his side.
Twenty-six-year-old Yaya is the younger brother of Kolo and is seen as the ideal man to fill the gaping hole in Arsenal’s midfield.
Fantasy Stakes players will know that if the Gunners are going to progress in the Premier League next season they will need to be tougher to beat and concede fewer goals.
Wenger’s side conceded 37 league goals last campaign and threw away a number of points with sloppy defending.
Arsenal fans were dismayed when French defensive midfielder Mathieu Flamini left on a free transfer to AC Milan last year and they will be hoping to find a player capable of filling his shoes.
Brazilian holding player Denilson was a solid performer for the Gunners last term but is seen by many at the Emirates as a player who is better with the ball at his feet rather than someone who breaks up opposition attacks.
The 21-year-old played 37 times in the Premier League, bagging three goals, but is not seen as the answer to Arsenal’s defensive problems.
Gunners fans are still pining for a replacement to legendary midfielder Patrick Vieira and Wenger may see Yaya Toure as the ideal man.
However, fantasy football players should be aware that the Ivorian has had a very successful season with Barcelona and may be reluctant to move to an ailing Arsenal.
Wenger might have to ask Yaya’s older brother to do some persuading.
